Thesis “Study of high-latitude climate dynamics using atmosphere-ocean general circulation models”, 2006).
Scientific field: Global and regional climate 3D modelling; high-latitude climate dynamics; adaptation to climate change.
Publications: over 130. Lead Author of the 3rd, 4th, 5th and Review Editor of the 6th IPCC Assessment reports. Lead Author of the Arctic Council (ACIA-2005; SWIPA-2011, 2017) and Russian national (2008, 2014) climate assessment reports. Author and co-Editor of the “Assessment of macroeconomic impacts of climate change over the territory of Russian Federation till 2030 and beyond” (2011); Author and Editor of the “Report on climate risks over the territory of Russian Federation” (2017).
Other experience Since 2020 – member, Presidential Council for Science and Education; member, UN General Secretary’s High-Level Advisory Group on Climate Action; member, Science Council of the Russian Geographical Society. Since 2019 – member, Science Advisory Panel, World Meteorological Organization (WMO). Since 2016 – member, Adaptation Committee, UNFCCC. 2009-2018: member (2013-2016 – Vice-Chair), Joint Scientific Committee of the World Climate Research Programme. 2006-2018: member, Scientific Advisory Committee, APCC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Climate Center); 2017: co-Lead author of the Concept of the Russian National Adaptation Plan. 2007-2015: Officer, International Association of Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences (IAMAS) of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG). 2010: Coordinating Lead Author, the Draft of the Russian Comprehensive Plan of Weather and Climate Scientific Research. 2008-2009: Coordinating Lead Author, the Draft of the Climate Doctrine of Russian Federation (signed by the RF President D. Medvedev on 17 December 2009).
